              Jenny, Theresa, Tabitha, and Adam,

You have done an excellent job designing this unit. All of the components are very tightly integrated, and the theme carries through each of them.

                    Jenny,

I enjoyed reading your paper. You have clearly been engaged with your topic and with the broader possibilities of culturally responsive teaching. I also thought you did a good job choosing a variety of sources, from research articles to teacher as practitioner pieces.

It will be interesting to see how you implement this idea into your teaching. I suggest that you continue to read about this topic and to speak with other teachers about it.

On a mechanical level, I thought I had asked that the papers follow APA style. You did not. This is not a huge problem, but please be more careful in the future.

                          Jenny,

As this says draft, I am not sure it is your final version. If it is not, please be sure to send me the final version.

I think this lesson is well designed and well integrated into the larger goals for the unit. And, since you cannot actually create a dust bowl for your students to experience, the use of the period photographs was an excellent strategy.

I would encourage you to think of ways that you could have deepened or extended the activity, so that the students' inferences can get more nuanced and less repetitive.

Lastly, you left blank the reflection items on the lesson plan. They were required.
