Stable Big Ideas/Essential Questions

Task One: Based off the feedback from class, I would not change my essential questions. However, I would tweak my big ideas slightly. I would change my first big idea, but keep the rest. It is currently, "history is made up of multiple perspectives rather than just one." I would replace it with "Culture and religion affect peoples' perspectives of the world." The rest would remain the same.

Task Two: I would know that my students are proficient in the big ideas and essential questions because they are constantly asking questions that strengthen their understanding. I could also hold an ongoing discussion where they are actively participating showing that they comprehended the information taught, and are learning further from other students.

Third Task: The unit I plan to teach is unit 9.8 - Africa and the Americas pre-1600.

      Jaclyn,

      This is good work.

It will be interesting to see the specifics of the assessments you are proposing as you design your unit.
