Concept Map Project - Part 2

If you have not already done so, please be sure you have finished the work for Concept Map Project - Part 1.

As you will recall, you have done the following:

1. Identified a topic within the broader topic of man's impact on the environment.

2. Created a concept map in order to carve out an area you wish to teach about. While you did so, you were asked to create an audio recording asking you to capture yourself "thinking out loud" as you created your concept maps.

3. Created a learning activity you would do with students in order to make this topic real for them.

Now, it's time for Part 2.

Our goal this week is to try to deepen and extend our work.

So, please do the following.

1. Read. Please read these two pieces about concept mapping.

a. Using concept mapping to experientially introduce systems thinking
b. Novak, The Theory Underlying Concept Maps and How to Construct and Use Them

2. Revise. Now look over your concept maps from Part 1 and see if there is anything you want to do to revise them. Once again, record your thinking out loud as you make (or not) these revisions.

3. Rethink. Now that you have relooked at (and maybe revised) your concept map, do the same with your learning activities.

This work is due by next Sunday, October 1st.

Have fun.
