This article is very informative and explains the reasoning behind the method. In other words, they want students to understand the difference between knowing how to use something and understanding how it works.

      Such an interesting read! Thank you for sharing. I can't help but think of my 5 year old students because I can see it first hand. I teach a lot of coding "unplugged" and they really do grasp the concept well. I am so curious to see how the hour of code initiative and new NGSS standards will affect our country in the future! I hope we can fill some of these engineering and computer science jobs that are currently lacking in our country.
