Learning Activity

This was really my first experience ever that entailed me to create my own learning lesson and present it to the class. I worked vigorously in my organization process so that I could deliver an effective learning experience. My lesson was on polynomial equations, more specifically, factor by grouping, and algebra equations like that are some of my favorite topics in all of math. I knew I was going in with a great understanding and proper knowledge of the subject and I thought that would help me deliver a successful learning activity. Unfortunately, my lesson didn't work our as well as I thought it would. What I know I failed to do was get the class involved and keeping them interested as well. I have done a lot of reflecting of my lesson over the last couple days because I really wanted to succeed in all facets of my lesson. It has been difficult for me to think about different ways to humanize math, and create a learning activity that is relatable for my future students. I know that having the knowledge is only part of producing a lesson, and I know that I need to work on the part of a lesson that grasps the students attention. Keeping students involved and interested in a subject like math is tough enough as it is because not many students feel enthusiastic about the subject the way that I do. My goal when I become a teacher is to make math fun, and more importantly, making learning math enjoyable and understandable. I am going to use this learning activity as a way to learn from my shortcomings and be sure to make these activities more interactive and enjoyable in the future.

      This really stuck out to me:

      I have done a lot of reflecting of my lesson over the last couple days because I really wanted to succeed in all facets of my lesson.       In math, it can be very difficult to generate experiences (rather than transmitting information), primarily, in my humble opinion, because we have so few models for it. That will be your job soon.
