Bread Crumbs

As I come to the end of the beginning, when I first walked into my classroom I had a clear vision (an unrealistic vision) of what my classroom would be. I thought: These kids are so cute and full of energy. I'm going to have a fun loving, safe and happy learning environment. I really thought I was Mary Poppins. Not the case. Little did I know that so much work had to be done. Management, collaboration, engagement, motivation, development, and learning theories. In relation to all of these, each week something new had to be taught and learned. It was tough, but I went in with my eyes open.

Did I accomplish what I set out to do? Somewhat. 70% of my students are on board. I feel I have done exactly what I was seeking to achieve. A safe and comfortable learning environment for all.

      Tammy,

I loved reading this. Now I have an image of you as Mary Poppins. My version of this was that I was going to be the "cool uncle."

It has been great watching your growth over your first year of teaching. I look forward to what comes next for you.
