Ron’s Action Plan

Greetings. My name is Ronald Celestin. I am a Living Environment teacher in the downtown Brooklyn Area.  My first group of 9th graders took the Regents this past January. All in all I was content with the results.

This is a little embarrassing to submit this late, but please bear with me. I think it is only fair that I provide at least some level of transparency.

My wife and I had a beautiful baby boy on February 6, but that pregnancy and subsequent delivery created some very serious health concerns for her. I became swamped with work demands and my ever increasing responsibilities to my family. Everything is stable now, so I can finally attempt to catch up this week.

My plan as a teacher is to provide betters differentiation and scaffolding supports for my class going forward. I also wish to make significant progress making the content relevant to my students.

Because it is necessary for me to have 10 lessons planned on a weekly basis, it can seem challenging in the planning phase to create lessons, assignments and assessments that are engaging and rigorous without being overwhelming.

I will attempt to reduce the amount of time that I speak in the classroom. I would really like to apply new techniques to the classroom, which can further allow for students to provide more input into how the class functions, so that they will be more willing to do the ‘heavy lifting’.

Bear with me as I attempt to catch up this week.

This is old but:

"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."
