Week 6- Breadcrumbs

This week, I focused on student development due to the recent misbehavior I had to deal with. Naturally, I talked to the students individually, and asked if we could do a reset button and start over to focus on the future and their academic success and I was glad to see that students in all my classes have noticed a change in air around the classroom. Speaking as a teacher, I have started to listen more about what they are saying and noting what instructional strategy would work best for them and since I am being more open personally and smiling more, it has opened a gate where student want to focus on task at hand. Whenever I hear some students speaking over me, I stop talking until the students realize that they were talking out of turn or others ask them to be silent so that the instruction part of the lesson can continue. Generally, adolescent do not to be "taking orders" and for that part, teachers need to cultivate a sense of freedom/independence in their classrooms so students see themselves treated like adults, not children. Hopefully, next week I will have something positive to share with you all as well!
