How To Become Batman

This podcast completely changed my perspective on blindness and my thoughts on expectations. Prior to watching this, I did believe higher expectations were good for children, but I had not considered what a horrible impact low expectations could have. As demonstrated in Batman’s conversation on physical contact, he has quite a unique personality. As a society, it would be very difficult to implement change without those who are blind speaking up for themselves, such as Batman. Yet because of low expectations and coddling of blind individuals it is unlikely that there will be many similar people. Also, I noted at the end, when asked whether blind people can see based on other’s perceptions, one of the blind men who I believe was the father of the reporter said no. I thought it was quite interesting that they just moved on from there without addressing that comment. Ironically, I wish it was a video as there were many guest speakers it was sometimes difficult to differentiate between the voices, which I found confusing at times.
