Turtle Blocks

I enjoyed using Turtle Blocks more than Etoys. I found it more user friendly, but still challenging enough where the tutorial video was extremely helpful. After playing around with it for a while, I thought a cool activity would be asking kids to code "Hi" as an introduction activity. I played around with creating some shapes and stumbled across the "fill" effect which I liked a lot. This looks like a great tool to use in a math classroom. Excited to keep exploring with it!

      Hi Maria,

I think this would be a great tool to use in a math classroom. If students could code the turtles to create a shape and then find the area or perimeter of that shape it would be amazing! I am definitely going to use this in my classroom, thank you for the idea!

        Hi Maria,

I agree, I also enjoyed using Turtle Blocks more than Etoys. This would definitely be a great tool to use in the math classrooms, and would be a fun way to incorporate technology into math, which can sometimes be difficult. I like that you mentioned an introduction activity, because I feel this is a program that students would like to explore more, and possible use on their own.

          Maria,

I would be interested to see how you think you might make use of Etoys in a mathematics classroom. Perhaps you can design and publish a set of activities?
