ED 631 draft plan

Hello all. My name is Ashtyn Greenstein and I am a middle school science teacher at the Bronx School for Law, Government, and Justice. This year has been challenging to say the least, but also scattered with little victories. I can tell I have made great strides as a first year teacher, but I know there is much more progress I can make. My students are challenging and try to take advantage of my "newness" at any chance they get. Each day is a little better than the last and I am learning how to teach the students in front of me and cater to their needs.

My plan for this class is to hand in assignments on time (didn't quite work with this assignment, but this is the plan for every assignment moving forward!) by assigning two nights a week to the readings, videos, and other assignments of this class.

I also intend to apply the theories learned in this class to my teaching practice. My lessons should be about how to better teacher my students rather than ensuring they are given every piece of science they can get. I have been slowly learning how to make this shift in my lesson by incorporating activities that involve my students getting active and creative.

        This is a good start.

In your final plan, I would be specific about these things. Also, be sure to include details that will allow you to become at least proficient (if not masterful) in the four areas of the course: engagement, motivation. learning theories, and adolescent development.
