Independent Project Proposal

At this moment I believe that I would like to research “Is the push for successful students more stressful than not?” Little by little as students become older, they begin to hear “college”, “jobs”, and “money”, but it’s more to that. Students are becoming stressed by these terms because teachers and other adults are pushing that if a child is not successful, they will not be able to make it in life. The American Dream is for anyone in America to accomplish the dreams they have put out for themselves; it seems that kids are being told not to follow their dreams unless it can bring them success. It is beginning at the age of 12 where students are beginning to think of high school, once a child is in high school, they are constantly hearing “college”. Teachers are pushing students to go to the best college/university and to major in content areas that will get them six zero incomes. Students are losing out on their childhood and being able to be themselves, without hearing what they should do with their future. I’m still trying to figure out which way I can develop this.

I think this is a very interesting topic.

To generalize a bit, it sounds like you want to look at how expectations for future performance affects students now. Does it result in stress or productivity, something like that.
